4 reasons and solutions for the banknote jam--Munbyn IMC01

  If you are operating a retail store such as a supermarket, a bar, or a restaurant, I think you must have a money counter machine in terms of the cash register and amount savings. Whether when it is used to calculate your business income or counterfeit currency inspection after receiving large amounts of money, you will feel that a cash counter can bring a lot of security to your business. Many types of currency counters on the market have similar working principles and uses. What's more, Munbyn discovered through collecting user after-sales information that the situation of banknote jams is also common and similar.


  The currency counter is a relatively delicate machine. Generally speaking, maintaining it well is a necessary process to ensure the currency checking and counting work can be carried out smoothly. Next, this article will take Munbyn IMC01 as an example to explain the common reasons for the currency jam, and how to adjust the maintenance work to provide a rough guide, so as not to cause the user to pay a high price to buy it but can not use it normally.


  There are four main reasons for banknote jams: the problem of the banknote itself; the problem of the feeding gap; the wear of parts caused by long-use time; and the daily cleaning is not enough. Among them, the wear caused by long use is a common problem of almost all currency counters. At present, the service life can only be increased by increasing the frequency of maintenance, and the maintenance part also includes timely cleaning and debugging.


Money inlet problem

  If there is a problem with your cash input port, under normal circumstances, an error "image error" will be reported to remind you that your banknotes cannot go in. You can turn off the power and try to insert banknotes to test whether it is the reason. If so, you can see the screw on the top of the machine, which is an important part to adjust the feeding gap between the money inlets.

1-1 The adjustable screw

  The screw is used to control the width of the feeding gap. The width will become smaller by rotating the screw toward the smallest dot, otherwise, it will become bigger. Next, you need to adjust the feeding gap according to the following steps:

1) Stop the auto counting first.

2) Insert one banknote to the gap between the rollers to check if the banknote can be inserted smoothly, as shown in the following.

3) If the banknote is hard to inserted, that means the feeding gap is too small, please rotate the screw clockwise until the banknote can be inserted smoothly. If the feeding gap is so large that two or more banknotes can be inserted to the feeding gap, please rotate the screw counterclockwise until the gap can just allow one banknote inserted.

4) Use the banknote to check the other sides of the gap between rollers, to make sure the banknote can be inserted into both sides of the feeding gap smoothly.

1-3 One Coin to Rotate the Screw

After understanding the above debugging steps, there are two tips:

  1. You can just use one coin to rotate the screw.
  2. Having the correct feeding gap adjusted will ensure a smooth counting as well as a trouble-free operation. Trial and error attempts are recommended before you make the final adjustment and start the count.

Banknote problem

  If there is no problem with your banknote input, but the banknotes are stuck in the machine, then it is likely that there is a problem with your banknotes. The first thing to do after the banknote is jammed is to take out the banknote.

Take out the bills

  1. Please turn off the machine and rotate the banknote processing wheel by the direction of the following figure to take the jammed bills.

     2. Open the back cover to check if there is any foreign matter left inside, use the included dust-free cloth IMC01 inside, and close the back cover after cleaning.

There are several conditions to make the bill jam happened.

1) The bill size is out of the range according to IMC01 specification.

2) The banknote is damaged with different ways such as lack of corner, tape, hole, tear and folded. As shown in Figure 2-3, it is not recommended to count this kind of bills.

Parts wear and cleaning and maintenance

  Part wear is a problem that can't be avoided for being used for a long time. The main part of the wear is the rubber wheel of the money inlet, that is, the wear of the two rubber wheels that engage with each other causes the feeding gap to wider, which causes multiple banknotes to enter at the same time. The banknote input port causes the banknote input channel to be blocked, and your banknotes will jam. In this case, paying attention to the adjustment of the feeding gap every time you use it can reduce the friction between the banknote and the parts to a certain extent, thereby reducing the wear of the parts. How to adjust as mentioned above.

  Cleaning and maintenance is a necessary job. When the banknotes that customers give you are stained, day by day, accumulated dust inside your banknote detector will block the passages, causing banknote jams. At this time, you need to open the back cover of the machine to clean the inside.

1) Pull the handle of external back cover with the direction shown in Figure 2-6 to open the back cover.
